  • Ensure the banner is adaptable to different screen sizes (responsive design).

  • File Format: Submit the final design in PNG or JPEG format.
  • Resolution: 300 dpi for high quality. • Maximum file size: 5MB

SUBMISSION:

  • A completed channel banner design (in PNG or JPEG) that meets the above requirements.
  • Blog: document the design journey including mood board that visually captures the inspiration for the design, including color schemes, font choices, and imagery.
  • Blog: write a short reflection (150-200 words) explaining your design decisions, including how the visual elements represent the identity of the channel, and any challenges faced in the design process.

INITIAL IDEA

I established the channel focused on travel vlog because I am passionate about empowering individuals to explore the world on their own terms, whether it is for personal growth, adventure or simply to enjoy new experiences. By doing vlog while travel offers valuable chances for self-discovery, independence and reflection. Through vlog, it will encourage others to embrace the freedom and rewards of travelling. By sharing your own experiences, safety tips, and advice for navigating new places, you help viewers feel more confident and ready for their own solo adventures.

COLOUR SCHEME

For colour scheme, I don't use too much colour in my design because mostly I use pictures. But overall, my design inspire by earthy tone colour. Earthy tones are chosen for their ability to evoke a sense of calm, connection to nature, and groundedness. These colors, such as muted greens, browns, and blues, are associated with the natural world, creating a relaxed, organic feel. They reflect the simplicity and minimalism of solo travel, making them ideal for a channel focused on freedom, exploration, and embracing the beauty of the world in its most authentic, unfiltered form. Earthy tones also help create a warm and inviting atmosphere that resonates with viewers seeking peaceful and immersive travel experiences.

TYPOGRAPHY

Typography in design involves choosing or creating a set of typefaces that work together to present written content in a clear and visually appealing manner. For my channel, I choose Lemon Milk Bold that I downloaded from Dafont. Lemon Milk is a popular font because of its modern, clean, and geometric style. It’s bold and easy to read, making it perfect for creating a sleek, minimalist look. The font’s strong lines and balanced shapes add elegance while staying simple, making it ideal for projects that focus on adventure and innovation, like a travel channel.

Next, for my motto "Pack Light, Travel Far" I still using the same font that is Lemon Milk. Using the same font keeps my branding consistent and cohesive. It ensures the message is clear and visually aligns with the overall design. This creates a unified, professional appearance that highlights the channel's minimalist and clean style. A consistent font also strengthens brand identity, making the motto more recognizable and memorable for my audience.

LOGO

For my channel's logo, I incorporated the imagery people pulling luggage while walking with the word 'GO'. Initially, I found inspiration which the word 'GO' blend smoothly with the icon of a person walking while pulling a luggage.  The word "GO" is dynamic and action-driven, capturing the essence of starting a journey. When paired with an icon of a person pulling luggage, it visually symbolizes the act of setting off on an adventure, traveling light, and embracing the freedom to explore. This combination emphasizes the concept of being prepared to travel far with minimal baggage, perfectly matching the channel's focus on minimalist travel and adventure.

OUTCOME OF THE CHANNEL BANNER

In this banner, I was applying several design principles, starting with balance. This design achieves visual balance by centering the "Pack & Go" logo and tagline. This symmetrical layout brings a sense of stability and order, creating a calming and focused effect for the viewer. The central placement of the text creates harmony in the composition, while the surrounding images add visual interest without distracting from the main focal point.

The second design principles are contrast. The bold, dark "Pack & Go" text contrasts with the light, subtle background, making it stand out and easy to read at a glance. Each image also has unique colors and themes, adding depth and preventing the design from appearing flat. This contrast between colors and elements keeps the viewer’s eye engaged as it moves across the composition.

The third design principles are alignment. The design features a clean and structured alignment. With the logo centered and images arranged around it, the layout guides the viewer's eye in an orderly manner. This organization makes the design visually easy to follow, adding a sense of professionalism and enhancing its overall effectiveness.

Lastly, I used rhythm in my design. The triangular arrangement of images surrounding the central text establishes a visual rhythm, with each triangle guiding the eye to the next part of the design. This flow adds dynamism and keeps viewers engaged, prompting them to explore each image in sequence. This rhythmic movement reinforces a feeling of journey and discovery, fitting perfectly with the travel theme.

REFLECTION FOR INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT 1

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to my lecturer, Prof. Madya Dr. Siti Mahfuzah Binti Sarif, for her invaluable guidance and support in the creation of the banner. Her patience in addressing my queries and offering thoughtful suggestions was deeply appreciated.

While designing my channel banner for my academic project, my goal was to create a visually representation that really reflected the core of my channel. Throughout the process, I prioritized making the banner looking aesthetically pleasing and give the messages to my audience on what are my content are.

One of the most difficult parts of creating the channel banner was choosing the content. With so many options available, I felt overwhelmed by the variety of possibilities. It took some time to narrow down the choices before I finally decided. Ultimately, I chose solo travel as the central focus for my channel. Additionally, developing into Adobe Illustrator to design the logo presented its own set of challenges. Despite having some prior experience from class, I still felt somewhat unfamiliar with the software. However, after watching a few tutorials and getting help from a friend, I was able to successfully design the logo.

In conclusion, I am so satisfied with the skills and knowledge that I got by process making the channel banner from the design, colour, typography and to maintain the content. Creating this channel banner has been an exciting experience and I am curious on how it can shape my branding and engaging with my audience.
